Stylist Reynaldo Diaz

Vividbraille is very excited to announce that Reynaldo Diaz will be styling Fashion show that is coming up on September 19th and 20th. He is a very talented stylist who people can find at Dolce Moda store in Royal Oak, MI. We had a chance to interview Rey and would like to share that with you...

1. What exactly do you do?

I am a stylist; I look at a person and try to find an outfit that will accentuate their body type. I help people to find the style they will be happy with. I just love to bring out personality through clothing. A great outfit in which you feel comfortable in will most definitely show through in the way you carry yourself. It will for sure help with your self esteem!

2. How long have you been a stylist?

Professionally for about three years, but to be honest, styling has always been in me. As long as I can remember, I have always had friends ask me for my opinion about how to dress for certain occasions, how to put outfits together. And I have always loved helping them out.

3. What do you love the most about being the stylist?

I love to see the excitement and happiness in people’s eyes, after they put on an outfit that I have chosen for them. That drives me! I also love the creativity in what I do; the fact that with at least one garment of clothing you can do so much and come up with so many different looks.

4. What is Dolce Moda and how long have you been working there for?

Dolce Moda is an exclusive clothing store in Royal Oak, Michigan. We carry very high end European fashions; clothing with very good quality and you can find nice tailored fits there for yourself. Our clothes is fashion forward, avant guarde, sometimes very conservative, but sophisticated.
I have been working at the store for about three and a half years. I am the manager of the store, I do everything from styling, dealing with vendors, checking if the merchandise is very good quality to washing dishes :o)

5. Do you meet a lot of interesting people?

Yes! I meet not only local people, but also some celebrities. I have worked on different very well known shows as a stylist.

6. What are your best tips for an average person?

The most important thing is to understand your body type and be comfortable with yourself. Also, remember that you can get the same result from lower end fashion as from high end fashion, as long as you understand what works for you. Everybody is more than welcome to come to Dolce Moda store and I will be more than happy to help them.

7. How do you stay motivated?

When you love what you do, it comes natural. Being able to wake up in the morning and being able to start being creative with my own outfit and looking forward to see who is going to show up for me to work with and how creative I can be is what keeps me going. I love it!

8. Is there anything you don’t like about being a stylist?

There isn’t really anything I don’t like about what I do. Sometimes it is challenging when people don’t want to step out of their box. But usually, I find out people’s background and what they like and go from there, because I don’t want to suggest something that is a total opposite of who they are.

9. What are you most proud of in your career?

I am very excited that I got to the point where I can work with very creative people.

10. Do you have an idol you look up to?

I don’t really have one particular idol. I appreciate everybody for who they are and that makes them an idol in my eyes.

11. Where can people find you?

At the Dolce Moda store, I am there all the time – 7 days a week. Also, you can look at our web site www.dolcemoda.com

Angela's Eye

Angela Wisniewski is a great fashion explorer, who has an excellent web site called Angela's Eye, where she updates us on latest fashion and gives us valuable tips. Angela works for WDIV/Local 4 Channel in Detroit, MI. She has a great personality which made it a lot of fun to do an interview with her. You can check it out for yourself...

What do you do in your job?

Well I run AngelasEye.com, a motor city style, culture & shopping site. So basically I drink a lot of coffee, take a lot of pictur
es, kinda live on the web and shop. All day, every day.

What does your career involve?

See answer one. And add video.

How did you get into fashion industry?

I don't know that I'm necessarily "in the fashion industry." I've always gravitated toward fashion and style, so I just went with it as much as I could 'round these parts.

How do you keep in touch with the latest fashion?

The web, mags and my friends.

How did you get to work with WDIV/ LOCAL 4?

Although my site is named after me, WDIV is my employer. So I'm in the station all the time, but I'm the girl tucked upstairs who dresses weird. Ford is my sponsor, but I'm employed by a Post-Newsweek Station.

I see you work with Real Detroit Weekly magazine, what work do you do for them?

I used to work with them. I got my start as an intern there writing about a bunch of Detroit stuff, most of which was fashion/style related. I did the 'All Dolled Up' column for a long time.

What do you enjoy about your work?

All of it! The immediacy of the Internet is rather bizarro, though, but I'm getting used to it.

What is your working environment like?

Well it's not exactly a fashion mecca, that's for sure!

What are you most proud of in your career?

Hmm ... probably snagging a great job with such a substantial company within a few months of graduating college.

What skills are needed for a job like yours?

Good looks. Ha! I kid, I kid. Hmm ... patience and a thick skin? Do those count?

How do you promote yourself?

I don't, really. I'm pretty sure some commercials run on Channel 4, though, I've yet to see one myself. It seems like everyone else has but me!

How do you stay motivated?

Coffee, big dreams and hater-blocking.

What would you like to see yourself doing in future?

Living.

Where did you find out about Brock/and or Vividbraille?

I've known Brock since he kicked off the company. it's good to see he's doin' what he's doin'. I know things can be frustrating around here.

Where can people find you?

AngelasEye.Com, all over ClickOnDetroit.Com and bouncing between events, bars and boutiques in the city.
